If you are the owner or manager of a tourist housing unit (VUT) in Galicia, the term Turespazo will not only be familiar to you, but it is the central axis of your operational legality.
Turespazo is the digital platform of the Axencia Turismo de Galicia, designed to centralize all procedures related to the Registry of Tourist Companies and Activities (REAT). Complying with the registration requirements through Turespazo is the first and most important step to operate legally, avoid fines, and take advantage of Galicia’s thriving tourism market.

Turespazo functions as the single digital window where owners of tourist accommodations, including VUTs, must formalize their activity. Its main function is to ensure that all accommodation units comply with regional regulations and obtain the required tourist registration number, essential for advertising the property on any platform, such as Airbnb or Booking.

Registering on Turespazo guarantees transparency and quality in Galicia’s tourism offer, allowing the Xunta de Galicia to supervise and promote the sector efficiently.
The platform, accessible at www.turespazo.turismo.gal, simplifies bureaucratic processes by fully digitizing them.
Before Turespazo, many procedures required trips to physical offices or postal mailings, which caused delays and errors. Today, everything is managed online, from the initial application to obtaining the REAT number, accelerating the activation time of your tourism business.

Registering on Turespazo is not only a legal obligation but also a competitive advantage. The REAT registration number must appear on all your property listings, which builds trust with guests and meets booking platform requirements.
Additionally, the platform offers visibility in the official Galician tourism catalog, attracting tourists looking for certified options. Another benefit is the constant updates on regulations.
Turespazo notifies changes in regional legislation, such as modifications to habitability or safety requirements, helping managers stay compliant effortlessly. For small owners managing a single VUT, this means fewer risks of fines ranging from 1,500 to 150,000 euros depending on the severity of the non-compliance.
The process to register a property in Turespazo involves several rigorous steps that ensure compliance with Xunta de Galicia standards. First, you must create an account on the platform with a digital certificate or Cl@ve.
Then, select the “Tourist Use Housing” category and complete the form with property details such as location, capacity, and services offered. Required documentation includes the habitability certificate, responsible declaration of activity start (DRIA), property plans, energy efficiency certificate, and, if applicable, owner authorization if you are a manager.
Upload all files in PDF format and submit the application. The Tourism Agency reviews the documentation within up to 15 business days; if everything is correct, the definitive REAT number is assigned.
Once registered in Turespazo, guest registration comes into play, a national obligation regulated by Real Decree 933/2021.
You must report guest data to the Police or Civil Guard within 24 hours after check-in, using the SES Hospedajes platform.
Turespazo does not manage this; it is a daily post-registration step. Non-compliance here can lead to fines of up to 30,000 euros. Digital tools like Check-in Scan automate this process: they scan IDs or passports, generate forms, and send reports automatically.
To automate the sending of statistical data to the Xunta de Galicia, you can connect your tourist housing unit registered in Turespazo with the Check-in Scan platform.
The first step is to locate the personalized integration token in Turespazo. Access the Turespazo website and log in with the email and password you used for your registration. Inside your VUT panel, just below the property name, you will find the “Personalized Integration Token” section. This field contains a unique alphanumeric code needed to connect your property with external applications like Check-in Scan. Next to this code, you will see a “Copy” button that allows you to easily copy the token for later use in Check-in Scan configuration.
In Check-in Scan, access the web control panel and go to the “Properties” tab. Click “Edit” on the property you want to configure and scroll down to the “Police” section. At the bottom, enable the “Send statistical data to Turespazo” option. Two new fields will appear where you must enter:
Once the fields are completed, click “Save”. From that moment, your property will be correctly connected, and statistical data will be sent automatically to Turespazo, simplifying your administrative obligations.
To be approved for registration in Turespazo, your VUT must meet minimum conditions: usable area of at least 25 m² per person, adequate ventilation, hot water supply, functional appliances, and safety measures such as extinguishers and smoke detectors.
The Ley 2/2019 de Turismo de Galicia also requires a civil liability insurance and a digital complaints book. If the property is in a multi-family building, obtain the agreement of the homeowners’ association.
Recent updates (2025) emphasize energy efficiency, requiring certificates class D or higher for new registrations, aligning with European sustainability directives.
Operating without being registered in Turespazo or without displaying the REAT registration number in your listings can be considered a serious infraction under the Ley 7/2011 de Turismo de Galicia. Penalties can range from 1,501 € to 150,000 € depending on the severity of the non-compliance.
Likewise, failure to report traveler forms as per Real Decree 933/2021 can result in fines of up to 30,000 € or withdrawal of the tourist license. Therefore, tools like ours not only facilitate management but also help keep your activity fully legal.
